Volunteer Positions Available:

Volunteer Role	Description
Be a Life Saver Campaign	Volunteers are needed to distribute Life Savers candy and literature to the general public. The next one-day campaign will take place on Friday, April 16, 2010.
Office Help	Answer telephones, filing, inventory, some typing.
Direct Mail	Label, sort, package and count materials in the bulk mailing. This is an on-call position, which takes 2-4 hours at a time. Particular moments of bulk mail needs are around January, March, July, and August.
Event Booth Staff	Sit with our display at community events (most often on weekends). Answer questions when possible or take down information so staff can answer. A normal shift is 2-4 hours.
Newsletter Editing and Layout	Assist with preparation of a four page newsletter two times a year. Mailing targets are September and January.
Assistant Volunteer Coordinator	Recruit, train and place volunteers within the CAN Council structure. Estimated 5-10 hours a week with one-year commitment minimum. Previous volunteer experience required.
Fund Raising Volunteers	There are a variety of opportunities (such as soliciting donations in exchange for Lifesaver candies, taking pledges, or recruiting participants for the Tee up Fore Tots golf outing) with differing time commitments. Most of our fundraising is done April through September with planning during the other months. A large number of volunteers are needed in April for the Lifesaver Campaign.
Data Entry	Help keep our computer files up to date. Knowledge of IBM-compatible computers and with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software is helpful (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point).
Writing Educational Materials	We have periodic need for help with writing brochures on topics associated with abuse, neglect, and parenting. Information developed will be presented before the Education Committee.
Grant Reviewers	In December of each year we review CAN Grants and in November the Children's Trust Fund pre-applications. Each document is 5-10 pages plus a budget.
Committee members	We have the following committees: Education, Finance, Membership Development, Public Relations, Fundraising and Special Events. Most meetings run 1-2 hours a month and are held between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. on weekdays.
Librarian	Assist with the organization of materials, preview materials for possible additions to the Library, update files, and follow up with clients.

Speakers Bureau	Give 20 minute to 1 hour presentations to groups ranging from middle school students to business men, to Sunday School Classes. Training provided if you do not have background in this field.
"Baby Think It Over" Educator	Present parenting awareness curriculum to local teen groups interested in using "Baby Think It Over" dolls.
